Break Free: The True Way to Happiness
Written by Anthony Parkes on Confidence, Happiness - Follow him on Twitter.
When you complain, half the people don’t care, and the other half think you deserve it.
I can’t realize how much time I’ve spent stabbing my own happiness with a jagged-edged blade. So much trouble is unnecessary.
I used to be a moaning, complaining, hate-the-world kind of guy. Because when things didn’t go as I wished, I victimized my own self and blamed my gargantuan misery on the world.
Dude, Why the Hell Are You Unhappy?
Inside our heads, we’re really all kids. We whine and moan when we can’t get it our way. If only this, if only that.
But hey, nobody cares! It’s a hard truth, nobody’s going to make you happy. You are, so you might as well start now:
1. Stop Complaining
Take blows in your stride – nobody finds your complaints interesting, and complaining about your own misery ain’t going to change anything. So you might as well shut up.
Everytime you’re about to complain, stop and think: Is this really useful? Am I helping myself or others by saying this? Is this going to change my situation? If not, you’d better put a sock in it.
Extra Bonus: Girls wimp around all the time. If you want to be a strong alpha male, don’t whine: you’ll appear calm and in control – and women love this.
2. Act and Change Things (Really do!)
If you’re always complaining, then you’re basically putting your potential behind prison bars. Why would anything be worth doing if the world sucks, right?
Dude, the world doesn’t suck, and neither do you. It’s just the way it is, so you have to accept yourself and the world. That’s when you can start changing things.
How do you act? Happiness is the most important element of your life, so be ready to blast anything dangerous to it (including women) out of the way.
But how do you differentiate real happiness from perceived happiness? You could be mistaken, and causing more harm than good. I’ll write a follow-up post about this soon, subscribe to get noticed when it’s toasted!
3. Confidence is Key
Confidence is really plain responsability: you’ll be confident the day you control your life, and actually accept the world as it is. Don’t hate the world, but don’t hate yourself either. Shit happens. Live with it. Confidence is being able to cope with whatever life throws at you.

4. The True Way to Happiness
You start being happy the day you feel you deserve to be happy. By the time you get that feeling, you won’t settle for anything less. You won’t hesitate to trash a destructive, heart-tearing relationship.
There are three ways you can go about the world:
- Blame everything on external factors (and do nothing) – side note: your girl is an external factor.
- Blame everything on yourself (and do nothing)
- Actually do something about it
So everytime you feel low, sad, that your job or relationship sucks, think in your own interest first.
The lesson is: don’t sell your happiness for anything. Love does blind you because you equate a girl or relationship to happiness. You only have one life, so you should intend to live it fully.
It’s time you grab life by the balls.
